House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairman Frank Lucas (R-OK) released a statement today on the President’s budget proposal:
“I’m disappointed but not surprised by the President’s massive tax and spending proposal,” Lucas said. “Despite being a month late, the Administration failed to include the details necessary to fully evaluate their spending plans. But the topline numbers released today make it clear that when it comes to critical issues like science, technology, and American energy, the President would rather pursue divisive, partisan priorities at the expense of supporting more efficient investments in our future.
“The budget proposal boasts about spending taxpayer dollars on international climate slush funds and vaguely defined environmental justice programs, while shortchanging the basic research that has been proven to advance our economy, lower energy prices, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“In the past two years, the Biden Administration and Democrats in Congress have spent reckless amounts of money, without regard for efficiency, effectiveness, inflation, or our national deficit. This budget proposal is, unfortunately, more of the same.”
