Chairman Brian Babin
Chairman Brian Babin was sworn into office on January 6, 2015, and has proudly represented the people of Texas’ 36th Congressional District ever since.
Born and raised in Southeast Texas, Congressman Babin earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Lamar University before completing dental school at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. He and his wife, Roxanne, have been married since 1972 and are the proud parents of five children and 17 grandchildren.
Before seeking public office, Congressman Babin served as an airborne artilleryman in the U.S. Army Reserve and the Texas Army National Guard. After commissioning into the U.S. Air Force and serving overseas, he and Roxanne settled in Woodville, Texas, where he owned and operated a dental practice for 35 years.
Congressman Babin was chosen to chair the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee for the 119th Congress, a committee he has served on since joining Congress a decade ago. As Chairman of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, Congressman Babin is committed to ensuring that the United States remains at the forefront of space exploration, scientific discovery, and technological innovation. He intends to build upon the nation’s tradition of leading humanity to new frontiers by fostering groundbreaking advancements through strong public-private partnerships.
Under his leadership, the committee will prioritize reducing regulatory barriers that hinder progress, enabling American industry to operate at the speed of innovation rather than being dragged down by red tape.
